Why Now

Batteries are the first industry with a specific DPP implementation date: February 18, 2027 (Art. 77 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542). This obligation covers LMT batteries, industrial batteries with capacity above 2 kWh, and EV batteries. The carbon footprint declaration for EV batteries has been required since February 2025 (Art. 7).

What data does a battery passport require?

Under Art. 77 and Annex XIII of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, a battery passport must contain approximately 90 data attributes. The information is divided into 3 access layers.

Legal basis: Art. 77(1) and Annex XIII of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. The Battery Pass consortium identified 90 mandatory data attributes that must be electronically accessible via a QR code linked to a unique battery identifier.

Who is myDPP for?

Your products require a Digital Battery Passport if they belong to one of the following categories:

LMT Batteries (Light Means of Transport)

Batteries weighing 25 kg or less, designed to power e-bikes, e-scooters, e-mopeds, and similar vehicles.

Industrial Batteries > 2 kWh

Used in energy storage systems (ESS), UPS systems, forklifts, off-road machinery, and other applications.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Batteries

Traction batteries for passenger cars, delivery vehicles, trucks, and heavy motorcycles.

Portable batteries do not require a digital passport but are subject to other regulation requirements: labelling, collection, carbon footprint declaration (from 18.08.2025) and minimum recycled content levels.

Is my product subject to the Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirement?

The scope of obligations depends on the battery category, your company's role in the supply chain, and how the product is placed on the market. We recommend confirming regulatory status with a legal expert, while myDPP supports the technological side of this challenge: data management, mapping processes, and passport publication.

How quickly can we start the pilot program?

The process usually begins with a short conversation about data sources and implementation scope. We then launch the myDPP platform on your data in a controlled scope, configuring the battery template, data feeding, and passport publication via unique link or QR code.

What data do I need to prepare to start?

Initially, a basic set of product data that you already have in PIM/ERP systems or files is sufficient. During the pilot, we jointly identify any gaps and create a plan to supplement information necessary for full passport consistency.

Do I need to have system integrations ready from the start?

This is not required. You can feed the passport with data through a universal product feed (CSV) or integration. In the MVP phase, we offer native integration with Ergonode PIM system and the ability to work with files.

What exactly do I receive at the end of the pilot program?

The result of the pilot is a working battery passport in the form of a product page accessible via link/QR. You also receive a configured data template, data feeding mechanism, and a checklist of gaps and recommended next implementation steps.

Can I control which information will be public?

Yes. We design myDPP with different visibility levels and permission management in mind, to enable separation of public information from data intended only for authorized entities such as service providers or recyclers. The scope of these features can be adjusted to the project development stage.

What data must a battery passport contain under the regulation?

Under Art. 77 and Annex XIII of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, a battery passport must contain approximately 90 data attributes divided into 3 access layers: public data (identification, carbon footprint, recyclability), data for regulatory authorities (test results, certificates, declaration of conformity), and data for service and recycling (disassembly instructions, battery state of health, charging cycle history).

Is a carbon footprint declaration already required?

Yes, for EV batteries the carbon footprint declaration obligation has been in effect since February 18, 2025 (Art. 7). For industrial batteries above 2 kWh the deadline is February 18, 2026, and for LMT batteries - August 18, 2028. Dates may shift if delegated acts on calculation methodology are not published on time.

Who has access to battery passport data?

The regulation defines 3 recipient groups with different permissions: the general public (basic data via QR code), market surveillance authorities and notified bodies (full technical and certification data), and service and recycling entities (disassembly instructions, material data, battery state of health). myDPP supports managing these access layers.
